Disability Inclusion Program
Mainstreaming disability inclusion across every arm of government and every sector of national life.
Objective
To advise the Government of Liberia on all disability-related policies and ensure that disability inclusion is mainstreamed across all sectors, including education, health, employment and social protection.
About this program
The Commission coordinates national efforts to align policies with the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development and with international standards, including the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which Liberia ratified in 2012.
Work under this program includes reviewing draft policies and development plans for their impact on persons with disabilities, convening ministries and agencies around shared inclusion targets, and monitoring how national commitments translate into services people can actually reach.
In furtherance of its statutory mandate, the Commission works closely with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPWDs), community-based disability groups, and development partners to strengthen institutional capacities, improve service delivery, and advocate for equitable and inclusive opportunities for meaningful participation of persons with disabilities in national development processes.
