Inclusive Education and TVET Accessibility Program
Opening schools, colleges and vocational institutions to learners with disabilities.
Objective
To promote inclusive education and ensure that schools and technical and vocational training institutions are accessible to learners with disabilities.
About this program
The Commission works with education authorities, schools and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) providers to remove the barriers that keep learners with disabilities out of the classroom, from inaccessible buildings to teaching materials that cannot be read in Braille or interpreted in sign language.
The program also advocates for scholarships and for teacher training in inclusive methods, so that a place in school becomes a genuine education.
In furtherance of its statutory mandate, the Commission works closely with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPWDs), community-based disability groups, and development partners to strengthen institutional capacities, improve service delivery, and advocate for equitable and inclusive opportunities for meaningful participation of persons with disabilities in national development processes.
