Livelihood Program
Economic empowerment so that persons with disabilities can earn, save and provide for their households.
Objective
To promote the welfare, empowerment and well-being of persons with disabilities through livelihood support, capacity building and access to economic opportunity.
About this program
Poverty and disability reinforce one another. This program supports persons with disabilities to build a stable income through livelihood skills training, start-up support for small enterprises, and links to cooperatives and community-based disability groups.
The Commission also advocates with employers and financial institutions so that persons with disabilities are recruited, retained and served on equal terms.
In furtherance of its statutory mandate, the Commission works closely with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPWDs), community-based disability groups, and development partners to strengthen institutional capacities, improve service delivery, and advocate for equitable and inclusive opportunities for meaningful participation of persons with disabilities in national development processes.
